Gratitude on Mothers Day

{Being Mother’s Day in Australia my thoughts of gratitude automatically go to my mother who died 14 years ago at age 96, after a time of “waiting”. This is a poem I wrote for her a long while ago}

The Daisy Field
White hair and wrinkles…
Time traveling slowly…

The field was full
as the gay daisies
lifted their white petals
over the green turf.

Spring showers
heightened their colours.
Summer breezes
brought a new dance.

Autumn colours
carpeted their home.
Until winter snow
snapped their frail stems.

Her companions
are now gone.
The daisy field is lonely…
as she waits.
